Most applications get no reply, and a polite follow-up sent five to ten business days after applying is both acceptable and effective. Respect any timeline listed in the posting. Rather than simply asking "any news," add a small piece of value.

If a first follow-up goes unanswered, one more brief, lighter note five to seven business days later is reasonable. Two follow-ups is the practical maximum before further messages start to feel pushy.

Template 3: The Thank-You After an Interview

Send this within twenty-four hours of the interview. It is a small effort that a surprising number of candidates skip, and it keeps you memorable.

If the timeline the company gave has passed, this asks for an update without sounding impatient.
